How ZF Green Electricity Verification Works

Different paths, one goal: verified renewable-energy use.
We help suppliers choose the most efficient verification route based on their energy setup.

Overview of the 3-step ZF verification path. Step 1: Green Electricity Approaches (Recommendation vs. Minimum). Step 2: Scope. Step 3: Verification Approaches.

Verification Approaches – Two Paths to ZF Compliance

Both options simplify your supplier verification while meeting ZF’s technical and assurance standards.

Flowchart of the ZF Supply Chain GE Verification (ISRS 4400). This streamlined process is exclusive to justReporting, has lower costs, and is applicable only to the ZF GE Recommendation scope.

Based on ISRS 4400

  • Exclusively performed by us
  • Primarily based on document review, with scope agreed between ZF and the auditor.
  • Lower external costs.
  • Higher internal effort due to preparation and upload of all relevant electricity procurement documents.
  • Not suitable for regulatory or third-party reporting purposes.
The Standard Path: Limited Assurance Audit. The comprehensive audit (ISAE 3000) for all scopes, which can be performed by any registered auditor and used for other reporting purposes.

Based on ISSA 5000/ISAE 3000 (Revised)

  • Based on interviews and data analysis.
  • Auditor determines scope and methods.
  • Higher external costs due to more audit effort.
  • Some internal effort from interviews and data clarification.
  • May be used for other reporting purposes if agreed in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we work with your audit team?
  • Proven ZF expertise – We co-authored the ZF Green Electricity Verification Guidance and therefore understand ZF’s assurance expectations and suppliers’
    day-to-day realities.
  • Fast onboarding – Contracts and workflows are pre-approved by our own Legal and Quality teams, so you can begin almost immediately with minimal administration.
  • One-stop solution – No need to hunt for a qualified auditor or brief them on ZF specifics; we already “speak ZF” and can start straight away.
  • Preferential pricing – All suppliers in the ZF network benefit from a centrally negotiated daily audit rate below market level, keeping your verification costs predictable.
Which documents will I need?

Prepare the following evidence (exact items depend on how you purchase electricity):

  • Meter readings or utility invoices showing consumption volumes
  • Power-purchase or supply contracts indicating renewable-energy shares
  • Energy Attribute Certificate retirements/cancellation statements
  • Any additional proof listed in the ZF Green Electricity Supplier Guide

Collecting these documents in advance shortens the review phase significantly.

Is ZF a party to my contract?

No. To preserve independence, the engagement contract is solely between your company and our audit firm. ZF neither signs nor influences this agreement.

ZF only receives the final assurance certificate via the ZF SupplyOn Business Directory; our contract already authorises you to share it.

Who pays for the verification?

Your company covers the cost of the verification; ZF does not reimburse or co-finance the service.

If you choose to work with us, you benefit from a discounted audit rate negotiated specifically for ZF suppliers, and you save valuable time thanks to our fully aligned administrative and operational setup.

If you select another audit firm, you’ll need to manage onboarding, alignment with ZF requirements, and contracting on your own — and market rates are typically 15–20% higher than those offered through us.

I was selected by ZF. What is my very first step?

Book your free initial consultation. We will clarify your status (Recommendation vs. Minimum) and define the most efficient audit path for you together.

What happens if I miss the deadline (March 31, 2026)?

Meeting the deadline is part of your commitment to ZF. In case of non-compliance, ZF reserves the right to take contractual measures. Our streamlined process is designed to ensure your timely submission.

What do I have to submit to ZF at the end?

At the end of the process, you will receive the audit report from us. You must also fill out the 'ZF Supplier GE Declaration'.  You will then upload both of these documents to the 'Green Electricity Roadmap' section of the ZF SupplyOn Business Directory.

Can you audit other sustainability information beyond green electricity?

Yes, we provide comprehensive ESG and sustainability verification services. We can discuss your specific needs during the booking process or feel free to explore our full service offerings at https://justreporting.eu

In which languages do you provide services?

We perform our services in German or English.
